Many people we talk to say they have never heard of Burma, and we're not surprised! Rangoon Restaurant is the only Burmese establishment in Ottawa and one of just a handful in all of Canada.

Burma (also known as Myanmar) is a country of about 50 million people in Southeast Asia that shares its borders with such countries as China, Thailand, Laos and India. Rangoon (also known as Yangon) is Burma's largest city and former capital.

Burmese cooking has been influenced by the spices, seasonings, ingredients and preparation styles of its neighbors, however it's the way these ingredients are combined that makes Burmese cuisine such a unique experience.
